1. What's High Density Tungsten Alloy Rod?
High density tungsten alloy rod is a dense metal rod manufactured through high-temperature sintering, using tungsten as the matrix material and adding binder phases such as nickel (Ni), iron (Fe), or copper (Cu). CTIA’s high density tungsten alloy rod typically contains 90%–97% tungsten by weight and offers high melting point, high density, good ductility, and machinability. It is mainly divided into two series:
(1) W-Ni-Fe Alloy Rod: Ferromagnetic, with tensile strength reaching 700-1400 MPa, often used for high-load structural components.
(2) W-Ni-Cu Alloy Rod: Non-magnetic, suitable for high-precision instruments and equipment sensitive to magnetic interference.
2. Characteristics of CTIA's High Density Tungsten Alloy Rod
(1) High Density and High Strength: Density ranges from 17.0 to 18.8 g/cm³, providing large mass within a small volume; tensile strength is usually 700-1000 MPa, with some grades reaching up to 1400 MPa, offering good load-bearing and wear resistance.
(2) Superior Radiation Shielding: Strong absorption capability for gamma (γ) rays and X-rays, with shielding performance 30%–40% higher than lead. It is non-toxic and environmentally friendly, avoiding toxicity hazards associated with lead, making it suitable for efficient radiation protection components.
(3) Good Machinability: Nickel-iron or nickel-copper binder phases improve material toughness, making precision machining like turning, milling, and grinding easier compared with pure tungsten.
(4) Stable Thermal Properties: Low coefficient of thermal expansion (4.5-5.5×10⁻⁶/K ) maintains good dimensional stability under temperature-varying environments, suitable for precision equipment and special working conditions.

(5) Electronic Equipment and Electrode Manufacturing: Used for EDM electrodes, vacuum equipment components, and precision electronics parts, utilizing advantages of wear resistance, high-temperature stability, and electrical conductivity.
